‘Liverpool to sell Diogo Jota as Arne Slot lines up ideal replacement’
Liverpool star Diogo Jota faces an uncertain future on Merseyside after another season plagued by injury.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (10 February) that Liverpool are frustrated with the 28-year-old’s fitness record and could render himself unreliable if he cannot remain available.
Jota is attracting interest from Arsenal – who are looking for a new primary striker ahead of the summer transfer window.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested selling the Portugal international would be the best move.
Arne Slot to hand-pick Diogo Jota replacement at Liverpool
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness suggested Jota could prove his fitness next season before leaving in 2026 with one year left to run on his Liverpool contract.
He has missed 15 games across all competitions with injury this term alone – but has notched eight goals and two assists in 22 appearances.
Wyness claimed it would be a “good move” to let manager Arne Slot decide on an upgrade for Jota in the upcoming summer window.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Jota, with his injury situation, could end up staying at Liverpool until everyone can see he is fully fit.
“He may go not in this summer, but in the following year.

“That’s my opinion. This is where Liverpool have been consistent with their transfers, they get a good kitty in and it leaves them enough to spend so the net outlay isn’t as high as you would think.
“Arne Slot will decide the targets which fit the style he wants, that’s a good move.
“Of all the areas at Liverpool, this is the one in need – even though they’re not in any desperation to bring people in.
“I expect they will be working on some moves right now.”
Newcastle and Chelsea race to sign Liverpool star
Liverpool will be keen to boost their budget for the summer with goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher being targeted by Newcastle United, Chelsea and overseas clubs.
Kelleher, 26, will have just 12 months left on his Liverpool deal in June and is set to leave Anfield for good.
The Republic of Ireland international will push for a Liverpool exit in the off-season with a deal for Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili already wrapped up.
