Liverpool told to forget Kylian Mbappe and sign 19-year-old instead after journalist’s update – pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Liverpool to focus on signing Jude Bellingham over Kylian Mbappe.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker doesn’t understand why Mbappe would want to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (11 October), the 23-year-old is unhappy at the French club and wants to leave “as soon as possible”.

As quoted by The Telegraph earlier this year (23 May), the striker said he held talks with Jurgen Klopp over a potential move to Anfield because it is his mother’s favourite club.

The France international’s current deal at the Parc des Princes runs until the end of June 2025.

McAvennie suggested Liverpool focus all of their attentions on signing Bellingham, 19.

It is a strange one but Mbappe is in demand,” he told Football Insider.

He is the highest paid player at the club, he is probably the highest paid player in the world, why would you want to leave?

They seem to get on well, him, Messi and Neymar. The three big ones. The manager has a hard task every day keeping the three of them happy.

I think they need Jude Bellingham before they need Mbappe. I think [Darwin] Nunez will come good. It is mouth-watering but I do not think that will happen.

Liverpool

Earlier this month (1 October), sources told this site that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson urged Bellingham to join them at Liverpool next year.

The Reds have held extensive talks with the 19-year-old’s representatives ahead of a potential move next summer.
