Expert tells Liverpool to ‘get their act together’ amid Mohamed Salah training reveal

Mohamed Salah’s early return to Liverpool training will be a bonus as they try to get their season back on track.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Both Liverpool and Salah, who was named PFA Player of the Year in 2021-22, have had a relatively slow start to the season by their own high standards.

The 30-year-old attacker did, however, find the back of the net twice in Egypt’s 3-0 win over Niger last Friday (23 September)

As relayed by The Athletic on Monday (26 September), Salah was given dispensation by the national team to return to Merseyside early after that match.

He played no part in the subsequent 3-0 win over Liberia on Tuesday (27 September) and has instead resumed training with Liverpool.

Only Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker has racked up more air miles than Salah, who has flown the equivalent of 5.6 times around the world in the last four years, according to FIFPro.

Dinnery insists that Jurgen Klopp will be grateful to have his prize asset back early as he prepares his team to face Brighton on Saturday (1 October).

“He will be very happy,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Wiliams.

The national team are under no obligation to release players early. Any kind of decision to allow players to leave early will be gratefully received, especially as we come into this particularly busy period of the season.

Salah, by his own standards, has had a bit of a slow start to the season. This gives him a bit of an opportunity to come back and work with his teammates a little bit sooner than expected.

They can now legislate for complications surrounding travel and having to acclimatise very quickly. We often see players not come back until late Thursday or even Friday.

This way, Salah has several days to work on the training pitches ahead of the next game. They have some massive fixtures coming up and need to start getting their act together.

Salah will be feeling the burden of those performances. He will be keen to address the wrongs of the first half of the season.
