Liverpool ‘very interested’ in signing ‘one-of-a-kind’ Morgan Gibbs-White
Liverpool are accelerating plans to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that he is viewed as a unique profile to add to their midfield ranks.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 1 January that the Reds have made the 24-year-old their “top target” ahead of the January and summer windows.
Forest, however, are expected to turn down any interest in Gibbs-White this month and remain confident of keeping him this term due to their lofty league position.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table, with a game in hand over both Arsenal and Chelsea heading into their clash with Wolves on 6 December.
The attacking midfielder has been a key part of that success, having started 15 of their 19 league games so far while he has scored three goals and picked up three assists.
This form also earned him two senior England caps under Lee Carsley’s management, having previously represented his country at all age groups from Under-16s to Under-21s.
Liverpool eye move to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White
Gibbs-White has become one of the most highly-regarded midfielders in the Premier League as a result of his displays so far this season and is attracting plenty of interest.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that Liverpool are keeping a close eye on his situation with a possible move in mind.
“Gibbs-White is attracting a lot of interest,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s been involved in the England setup and on the fringes of the squad for quite a while, even when he wasn’t being selected.
“Liverpool are very interested in making a move to sign him, and I can think of plenty of other teams keeping an eye on his progress as well.
“He would step in there and be a real asset to that side.
“If you look around the country, he’s a player that stand out because there aren’t many, if any players who can do what he does.
“There might be better technical players abroad, but there won’t be many players who show as much heart as he does, and that’s what you need in the Premier League.
“You need people who can play, but who are also willing to put everything on the line.

“If he gets a move to a bigger team, he will have earnt it and he deserves that move.
“But at the moment, he’s playing for the team who are third in the Premier League. That means a lot. And they won’t want to lose a key part of that side, especially not in January.“
