Kenny: Liverpool will be 'devastated' after update on transfer 'genius' Edwards
Liverpool will be “devastated” if sporting director Michael Edwards departs the club at the end of the season.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Liverpool’s transfer mastermind.
The Athletic reported in August that Edwards has told the Liverpool hierarchy he wants to quit the club when his deal expires next summer.
And The Sun‘s Alan Nixon claimed on 17 October that Real Madrid want Edwards to spearhead an overhaul at the Bernabeu.
Edwards, formerly of Tottenham, was appointed to his position at Liverpool in 2011 and has presided over an era of eye-watering success.
His recruitment strategy helped deliver the Champions League and a first Premier League title in 30 years between 2019 and 2020.

Kenny insists that the Merseysiders would be shattered if they lose the man who has had such a big hand in their trophy recent haul.
“Look at some of the names he’s brought in,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“We’re talking Salah, Mane, Robertson. To lose someone who has done such an amazing job will be a tough one to take.
“Getting rid of Coutinho and bringing in Van Dijk and Alisson was genius. It was almost like a player exchange.
“They have achieved so much in the past few years and he’s been a big part of that. I’m sure they’d be devastated if he leaves.
“Someone like that, who is so highly regarded, has been vital in their pursuit of trophies.
“It’s no surprise to see massive clubs like Real Madrid having a look at him.”
