Liverpool’s real reason for agreeing Arne Slot deal revealed
Liverpool chiefs have identified Arne Slot as the leading candidate to become the club’s new manager due to his data-driven approach, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Feyenoord boss is primed to replace Jurgen Klopp because of his analytical methods.
Both Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are behind Slot’s data-driven ideas, with the manager ticking a lot of the criteria that the Liverpool hierarchy are looking for.
He explained that talks are ongoing between the two clubs to sort out a compensation fee, with the 45-year-old going public to reveal he wants the job.

The green light is now on for the appointment, with sources in the Netherlands suggesting a deal could take place imminently due to both the Premier League and Eredivisie campaigns coming to an end.
O’Rourke told Football Insider that Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim had been strongly linked with the role, but has more recently been linked with the West Ham manager job.
He added that Slot does have a big job on his hands should he be the next man in the Anfield dugout, with Klopp set to leave this summer, a decision he announced in January.
Hughes will become the Merseyside club’s new sporting director at the end of the 2023-24 season, with Edwards recently named Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of Football.

Sources told Football Insider on Friday (26 April) that the Reds are advancing in their talks to appoint Slot, but a deal is not done yet.
In other news, “huge” Slot compensation details emerge from Anfield.
