‘Lock him up’, ‘Insane’ – Fans shocked by Martin Dubravka fan confrontation in Newcastle defeat to Chelsea

Fans have reacted in disgust to the “shocking” moment a Chelsea fan invaded the pitch to confront Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubrakva on Tuesday (19 December).

Mykhailo Mudryk bagged a 92nd-minute equaliser to make it 1-1 which sent the Blues into extra time of the League Cup quarter-final clash.

One overexcited supporter evaded a steward and made his way onto the pitch amid the celebrations of the Ukrainian’s goal before pushing the shot-stopper with his chest.

He quickly left the scene and returned to the crowd, but an investigation has since been launched by the Metropolitan Police in the wake of the incident at Stamford Bridge.

The Magpies went on to lose the penalty shootout 4-2 after Matt Richie and Kieran Trippier failed to convert their spot-kicks while Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Christopher Nkunku and Mudryk all netted.

Fans have furiously taken to social media in response to the confrontation, and some are eager for him to never step inside a football stadium again.

One supporter was enraged by the individual’s behaviour.

This fan called for the perpetrator to face a prison sentence.

One simply called the incident “insane”.

This fan is very confident that he the invader would have to watch his club on the sofa and predicted a stadium ban.

One fan was baffled that the stewards seemingly let him get away with it.

This supporter wanted to see Chelsea removed from the League Cup as punishment for the uncontrolled fan.
