Lucas Moura tipped to quit Tottenham after source’s reveal – Hutton

Alan Hutton has claimed Lucas Moura won’t sign a new contract at Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa right-back said Moura will find it difficult to get the game time he wants at the London club.

On Sunday (4 September), sources told this site that the 30-year-old is keen to run down his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and leave on a free transfer.

The Lilywhites knocked back offers from Newcastle United and Aston Villa on deadline day as they regard the winger as a key player who will get game time this season.

The former Brazil international has entered the last 12 months of his contract but the club have the option of extending that deal by a further year.

Moura was left out of the squad for Spurs’ 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday (3 September) due to a tendon injury.

As quoted by Football.London (6 September), Antonio Conte said the winger will be unavailable for their Champions League clash against Marseille on Wednesday (7 September).

Hutton said Tottenham won’t want to let the forward leave for free but believes he won’t sign a new deal.

I don’t think any club wants to let an asset go for nothing,” he told Football Insider.

But, it’s the situation he’s in a the moment, with the players that are in front of him, he’s obviously going to find it more difficult to get that game time that he wants.

I can understand from a player’s point of view he’s not got long left on his contract so that’s pretty much the only option he has at this moment in time to obviously let it run down.

Do I see him signing a new one? No, not really so I think that’s probably best. If he does play I’m sure he’ll give it his all that way he’s in the shop window for the next club.

So I think it’ll work out for both clubs but it’s not ideal to run your contract down.

In other news, a pundit has said Dejan Kulusevski is facing extended spell on sidelines after new Tottenham development.
