‘Brilliant’, ‘A machine’ – Tottenham fans rave over one man in win v Burnley (not Kane)
Tottenham fans turned to social media to rave over the performance of midfield maestro Christian Eriksen in their 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.
Spurs saw Harry Kane net a hat trick, made up of a sixth minute penalty and two second half strikes, to sink the Clarets at Turf Moor and secure three points to leapfrog the home side in the Premier League table, moving up two places to fifth.
While the England striker will deservedly get the plaudits for his lethal form in front of goal, the Tottenham faithful were delighted with what they saw from midfielder Eriksen, as he controlled the play behind the hit man alongside Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko.
The fans took to Twitter to pay credit to the Danish star, with many naming him among the top performers in what was a comfortable win for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
The 25-year-old was making his 24th appearance of the season against Burnley, having netted six goals and chipped in with a further six assists for the Lilywhites across all competitions.
He has started every one of the club’s 19 league games this season, although saw his four game run of scoring or assisting a goal come to an end on Saturday.
In other Tottenham news, fans said that a penguin looked more at home on the ball than this star did against Burnley.
