'There were a lot of mistakes' - Newcastle 24-year-old delivers honest assessment after Bournemouth loss
By Aramide Oladipo
Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez has delivered an honest assessment and claimed that his side made “a lot of mistakes” against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was left out of the starting line-up for the first time in the Premier League this season as the Magpies slumped to a 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park.
Bournemouth defender Steve Cook nodded home a last-gasp winner as Newcastle suffered their second consecutive 1-0 loss in the Premier League.
The Magpies were the better side in the first-half but the visitors produced a stellar performance after the interval and deservedly returned home with all three points.
Speaking with the Chronicle, Perez admits that the team were not good enough to get anything from the game.

“The main thing is we made a lot of mistakes and gave the ball away quite easy,” he said.
“That made Bournemouth feel comfortable on the counter attack.
“That’s what they were waiting for.
“We have to realise we are making a lot of mistakes and to do it from a throw-in makes the difference.
“There were a lot of mistakes and we paid for them.”
After an impressive start to the campaign, Rafael Benitez’ side now find themselves in the bottom half of the league table.
Perez is one of the players who has suffered a dip in form in recent weeks, having failed to score in his last three league matches.
In fact, the Spaniard has only managed to contribute with one goal and one assist in all competitions this season.
Perez and his side will look to get back on track when they face Manchester United after the international break.
