Report: Mammoth bid for Leeds player to be launched this weekend, deal could be done in days

By Harry Sykes

Burnley are poised to make a £15million offer for Leeds United striker Chris Wood this weekend, according to a report.

The Sun claim that the Premier League side are set to launch a mammoth bid for the 25-year-old in an attempt to prise him from Elland Road this month.

It is said that Burnley manager Sean Dyche believes that Wood would be the perfect man to replace Andre Gray, who has joined Watford for £18million.

The Sun report that Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen has already decided to look for alternatives should the Championship top scorer for 2016-17 quit in the next three weeks.

Burnley are trying to wrap up a deal for Wood, who has two years remaining on his contract with the Yorkshire club, in the coming days.

The forward is being eyed by a number of Premier League clubs following his exploits last season, when his 30 goals in all competitions included 27 in the Championship.

In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can exclusively reveal that Christiansen is lining up a move for a centre-back who is highly regarded and is captain of his club.
