Man City 115 charges: Keith Wyness suggests new trial date as ‘500-page judgement’ expected
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has claimed it could be 2026 before a verdict is reached on Man City and their 115 financial charges.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Citizens will use “stalling tactics” to prolong the process.
Man City were charged with 115 financial rule breaches by the Premier League last year but are not expected to face an independent commission until 2025.
City have rigorously denied the charges, which span nine seasons, since they were announced and have assembled a large legal team to fight the case.
Since their original charge, Everton and Nottingham Forest have been charged and had points deducted for single breaches.
Handling of Man City case is ‘tragic for football’, says Wyness
Leicester have also now been charged with a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think the Man City case going to go well into 2026.
“It’s my belief there will be early hearings in 2025, then there will be stalling tactics from City around the appeal.
“Where we’ve got 50-page documents for Everton and Nottingham Forest’s judgements – we’ll have 500-page judgements for City, and it could be even more.

“It’s going to keep their lawyers very rich, they’ll have a great time and I’m sure some great bonuses are coming their way.
“But it’s also tragic for football.”
