Pundit can't believe Man City could sell Bernardo Silva to Barcelona

Alan Hutton has claimed it would be “nonsense” if Man City allowed Bernardo Silva to join Barcelona.

The ex-Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 27-year-old still has a big part to play for Pep Guardiola’s side.

According to the Mirror (20 June), Barcelona are determined to sign Bernardo Silva this summer.

The 27-year-old is under contract at the Etihad until the end of June 2025.

He joined the Premier League champions in 2017.

When asked for his assessment of Silva’s future, Hutton told Football Insider, “To sit here and say you need a new challenge or you need to move on is nonsense.

“I think he’s more than capable of playing on.

“Of course there’s new players coming through, new signings that are going to push you.

But I think he’s more than capable of handling that at this level for the next couple of years easily

“As a fan, I’d love to seem him staying in this league and I love watching him play football, it’s just easy for him.

“So I’d like to see him stay. Whether he does or he doesn’t it’s totally down to him.

“He might see himself as needing a new opportunity abroad or back home but I would love to see him stay.”

Silva was a key performer for Pep Guardiola’s side last season.

He made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Light Blues, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists.
