Man City ‘plan to accept cut-price Jack Grealish January offer’ – ‘he will go’
Man City could accept cut-price offers for Jack Grealish either in January or the summer as they plan a “massive” overhaul of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that he expects City to continue their big-spending on new recruits in the coming windows.
This comes as City are closing in on deals to sign two young centre-backs, 19-year-old Vitor Reis and 20-year-old Abdukodir Khusanov, as well as Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.
Following their surprising struggles so far this season, the transfer team at the Etihad are now eyeing up wide-scale changes to their playing squad.
Brown has insisted that concerns about the ageing Kyle Walker, Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva have forced City to consider the futures of a number of key players.
One of those is Grealish, whose performances have been heavily criticised so far this season, and it has now been said he could be moved on to make way for a new winger.
However, there is an acceptance at Man City that they are unlikely to come close to making their money back on his signature, and so he could be let go on the cheap.
Man City plan to cash in on Jack Grealish amid major rebuild
Brown previously told Football Insider that Grealish could be sold at the end of the season as a result of his frustrating performances in Guardiola’s side.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that his exit could come sooner rather than later as they step up their transfer activity.
“They’ve got to a point where they have to make massive changes,” he told Football Insider.
“They have to turn things around, start again and build a new team, do what Sir Alex Ferguson always used to do so well at United.
“The right-back, Walker, is a definite issue they’re going to have to solve.
“Then, they’ll have to decide how big a problem they’ve got in midfield with Rodri’s injury, De Bruyne and Gundogan showing their age a bit, and even Bernardo Silva.
“But then you look at the wingers, where do they go with them? Is it going to be Jack Grealish?
“I don’t think so, and from what I’ve heard, they’d be willing to get rid of him.
“They’re not going to get their £100million back, but he’s still a sellable asset who they can move on to make room for incoming transfers.

“I think, given his struggles of late, he will be one of the ones they look to let go, whether that’s this month or in the summer.“
