Man City star Erling Haaland trolled by Sweden national team
Man City star Erling Haaland has been brutally trolled by the Sweden national team after being overshadowed by Viktor Gyokeres in their 4-1 defeat to Sporting CP on Tuesday (November 5).
The 24-year-old Norwegian rattled the crossbar from the penalty spot in the 69th minute with his side 3-1 down as Pep Guardiola’s side fell to their third consecutive defeat for the first time since 2018.
Viktor Gyokeres, 26, on the other hand, was at his clinical best, finishing off a rapid counterattack with a well-placed finish and scoring two penalties to give Ruben Amorim the perfect Estadio Jose Alvalade send-off.
Amorim will officially take over at Man United after the international break for their trip to Ipswich Town, buoyed by the fact he’s already got the better of Pep Guardiola once this season.
Man City star Erling Haaland outshone in battle of Scandinavian strikers
Since joining Sporting from Coventry City back in 2023, Gyokeres has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe.
In the Portuguese top flight, he’s already scored 16 goals in Sporting’s first ten games, helping them remain the only team in Europe’s top leagues with a 100 per cent record.
Of course, Haaland is doing well too, 14 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions for Man City so far this season is nothing to be scoffed at.
On this occasion, however, he was outshone, something that the official Svensk Fotball account on X, formally known as Twitter, did their best to remind him.

Guardiola’s side now sit in sixth in the new Champions League league phase with two wins, one draw, and a defeat from their opening four games.
Haaland will want to set the record straight in Man City’s Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday (November 9) as they seek to regain top spot.
