Man City will be desperate to keep ‘absolute diamond’ after John Stones reveal – pundit

Kevin Campbell has suggested Man City manager Pep Guardiola will be desperate to keep hold of Bernardo Silva this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 27-year-old is “an absolute diamond” and is “worth his weight in gold” to the Cityzens.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (30 July), Bernardo Silva is willing to wait until the end of the summer to secure a move to Barcelona.

The La Liga giants will apparently move for the Portugal international if Frenkie de Jong leaves the Nou Camp amid interest from Man United.

Silva has three years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.

Speaking to club media (27 July), City defender John Stones revealed the attacking midfielder is one of the most popular players in the dressing room.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Stones’ comments and the prospect of Silva leaving, Campbell said: “He is involved in everything.

“He is the glue in the dressing room. Players like that are very valuable.

“I was surprised last summer when there was talk of him leaving. There were talking about all sorts. It is amazing how he stayed and helped them win the league title.
