Man City’s stance on agreeing to Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson asking price

Man City may not make a move for Elliot Anderson if Nottingham Forest remain rigid on their £100million valuation.

That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley who has exclusively told Football Insider that he does not believe Anderson should be valued at such a high price at this moment in time.

Anderson wants to join Man City if he leaves Nottingham Forest, after a breakthrough campaign which has seen him become a starter for England ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Nottingham Forest have set a £100m price tag on Anderson, who is also of interest to Man United amid their need for a new midfielder.

Nottingham Forest want ‘big’ Elliot Anderson deal

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley can’t see Man City paying £100m for Anderson in an upcoming transfer window.

It would be a huge financial boost for Nottingham Forest, there’s no doubt in that,” Plumley said.

I just think it’s very unlikely that Man City would pay that valuation. Certainly, at the moment, I just don’t see it.

And if you look at all the transfers, you know, the benchmarks and things, it just seems a little bit of a reach if we’re being honest.

Obviously, Forest, if they’ve set that price tag, they don’t want to sell. But if he does want to go, then you’re going to be pretty sure that Forrest is going to try and hold close to ransom, because that’ll be a big deal for them.

Anderson playing key roles for club and country

Anderson could become a £100m player if he stars at the World Cup, with the 23-year-old looking likely to be selected in Thomas Tuchel’s final squad.

The midfielder is also one of Sean Dyche’s key players in Nottingham Forest‘s relegation battle in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest are just two points above the bottom three, but are starting to pick up form, having won three of their past five matches.

Anderson has started every Premier League game this season for the Tricky Trees, in what has been a turbulent season for the club.
