Man United backed to seal two signings after journalist's 'definite' Frenkie de Jong claim - pundit

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Frenkie de Jong and Antony amid interest from Man United in both players.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the duo could be “the first pieces of the jigsaw” for Erik ten Hag.

According to talkSPORT‘s Alex Crook (13 June), Antony, 22, and De Jong, 25, look like “definite arrivals” at Old Trafford.

Both players enjoyed great success under the management of Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

De Jong has four years remaining on his contract with Barcelona.

Antony has just three years on his deal with Ajax.

When asked by Football Insider if the aforementioned players would be welcome arrivals at United, Robinson said: “They are two very good players.

“I watched a lot of Antony in the Eredivisie this year. I was really impressed by him.

“He is a player that the manager obviously knows very well. He is direct, can score goal and can create.

“In terms of De Jong, another good player that the manager knows extremely well.

“This is part of a big rebuild at United. They are the first pieces of the jigsaw.

“They have got it so badly wrong for so long.

“Erik ten Hag is there now and they have to give him control. They have to let him do what he thinks is right. He needs the resources and time to get United back to where they should be.”
