Man United could seal 'amazing' Zidane appointment as U-turn reported - pundit

Zinedine Zidane is the only option for Man United amid growing pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Premier League goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is adamant the Red Devils would be “a different proposition” under the Frenchman, 49.

On November 10th, this site revealed Solskjaer is expected to be sacked if he does not oversee an immediate revival after the international break.

According to Fabrizio Romano (14th November), Zidane is “not desperate” to return to the dugout and has not been contacted by United.

However, Record Sport have since claimed (16th November) Zidane is warming to the idea of replacing Solskjaer.

When asked by Football Insider if Zidane would be a good appointment for United if he U-turned on a return to management, Robinson said:

“Zidane is an unrivalled name in football. He has had an amazing career as a player and a manager.

“At Real Madrid, he enjoyed a lot of success. Could he come into Manchester United and achieve the same? You would like to think he could but I don’t think the United squad is as good as the one Zidane won three Champions Leagues with.

“Do you go for Zidane or Brendan Rodgers? Rodgers has a great reputation and is a great coach by all accounts. Of course, he is in work though. Zidane is probably the only feasible option right now.

“Make no mistake, United are a different proposition with him in charge. The United fans will be very excited if Zidane gets the job.”
