Man United face new blow – Stefan Borson issues double-your-money warning
Man United have now accrued £1billion in net interest payments since the controversial Glazer Family takeover in 2005.
United published its second quarter financial results last week which showed a loss of £27.7million for the three months up to the end of December 2024.
The Red Devils have accrued a record amount of debt and £337million is due for repayment by June 2027 after a restructuring 10 years ago.
On the pitch, Man United sit 15th in the Premier League despite swapping Erik ten Hag for Ruben Amorim in the dugout in November 2024.

Man United debt ‘could get worse’ in 2027, warns Borson
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that United could be paying almost double the current 3.8% interest on the “Glazer debt” when they come to refinance in 2027.
He insisted the payments will prove to be a “heavy burden” on a club which is already struggling to pull its weight in the Premier League.
Borson told Football Insider: “There is the Glazer debt, which they put on the club to carry out the leveraged buyout.
“That could actually get worse in 2027, when they need to refinance.
“Right now, United are paying something like 3.8% on some tranches of that debt. That matures in 2027.
“That was put in place in 2015 when interest rates were a lot lower. Interest rates are now a higher – I doubt it will be double, but it probably won’t be too far off.
“That could be quite a heavy burden.
“The process to refinance will probably start next year, so there’s not an urgency to it.
“But it’s something looming on the horizon which will require a choice.
“They can either refinance the debt at a high-interest level, or they could do a big equity fundraise and ask the shareholders to put their hands in their pocket.
“What it is likely to do is bring into sharp focus the ownership structure and the levels of debt.”

Garnacho could quit Man United after January interest
Former Old Trafford chief scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider (25 February) that Alejandro Garnacho is questioning his long-term future at Man United.
Chelsea and Napoli were both keen to sign Garnacho in the January transfer window, but no deal emerged.
