Kieran Maguire: Man United have ‘much more to spend’ on transfers amid £440m document reveal
Man United are in no hurry to pay off their enormous debt bill – they would much rather spend the money on transfers.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about United’s recently released quarterly report.
United posted revenues of £126.5m loss for the three months leading up to September, with the overall loss down to 10.2m.

The figures also showed that Red Devils owe £439.7m to creditors, roughly the same as the £440.6m they owed in the same quarter last year.
United have won two of their last seven games and confirmed the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager on 21 November.
But an Old Trafford source told this site on 18 November that they have no plans to bring in any new senior stars in January.
Maguire claims that the club will be in a better position to recruit players in the future because they have not spent big on debt repayments.
“They are in no hurry at all to pay these loans off,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams,
“These are long-dated loans from financial institutions that are not due for repayment for many years.
“They are at low interest rates and if they do try and pay them early, the chances are there will be a financial penalty.

“It’s actually in their interests for them to keep ticking along as they are now. It means they have much more to spend in the transfer market.
“Remember, every million you spend on debt repayment is a million you can’t spend on new signings.“
