Man United news: Pundit issues ‘huge’ Mauricio Pochettino claim as update reported
Senior stars at Man United can persuade the club to appoint Mauricio Pochettino, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he “knows for a fact” that players and chairmen have discussions about future appointments.
According to the Telegraph (10 February), current Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino, 49, is the “preferred choice of a growing number” of Man United players to become the club’s next manager.

The report claims the former Spurs boss is set to depart the French giants at the end of the season.
It is also claimed he could leave even earlier, depending on results in the Champions League.
When asked if players could sway the board’s decision to appoint Pochettino, Phillips told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “Yeah, absolutely.
“I know for a fact that chairmen speak to players and players speak to chairmen. That’s just part and parcel of football – it happens.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if there are certain members of the squad talking about who they want to come in. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but it’s just a huge part of football and something that you have to deal with.”
Man United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick is contracted until the end of the season.
He succeeded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November.
Rangnick has won just 50% of his 10 Premier League matches since taking charge at Man United.

The Red Devils’ 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday marks the third successive game in which the German’s side have surrendered a 1-0 lead.
Man United sit fifth in the league, just one point adrift of fourth-place West Ham with a game in hand.
In other news, pundit predicts Rangnick could be sacked soon after ‘massively concerning’ report.
