Man United relationship could be damaged as ‘trust broken’ by Saturday development – pundit

Man United chief executive Richard Arnold was “very naive” to presume he wouldn’t be recorded of filmed during an encounter with supporters at a pub.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the leaked video of the 51-year-old online.

On Saturday (18 June), a video of Richard Arnold meeting a group of disgruntled supporters in a pub emerged online.

As quoted by BT Sport (19 June), the United chief admitted the club have “blown an enormous amount of money” in recent years.

He also claimed the players who leaked stories to the press last season have left the club.

Campbell fears the Man United fan who secretly filmed Arnold may have “broken the trust” between the club and supporters.

“You cannot trust anybody these days,” he told Football Insider.

“If phones are around, you have to be so careful of what you say.

“If you are not in your own home, you cannot trust anybody. You just simply can’t. You never know what is going on.

“Is it a bit of broken trust between the fans and the club? Maybe.

“But if you are in the world, if you are in the game, you have to be more vigilant. You cannot trust anybody. There is always somebody looking to use something against you.

“It is a tough one but that is life. It was very naive.”
