Man United smash club record as finalised paperwork shows surprising outcome

Manchester United increased their revenue by almost £5million last season following the release of their latest accounts.

Man United posted a club-record revenue of £661.8m for 2023-24 despite a decline in on-field performances in recent years.

Ruben Amorim’s side have now broken that record again after publishing their 2024-25 accounts on Wednesday (17 September), revealing their turnover has risen by £4.7m to £666.5m.

That figure was boosted by Man United’s significant uplift in commercial revenue, which improved from £302.9m in 2023-24 to £333.3m last season.

The 20-time English champions’ broadcast revenue fell from £221.8m to £172.9m due to their lack of Champions League football, while matchday income at Old Trafford increased from £137.1m to £160.3m.

Man United boosted by £60m deal

Following the announcement of Man United’s results, chief executive Omar Berrada said: “To have generated record revenues during such a challenging year for the club demonstrates the resilience which is a hallmark of Manchester United.

“Our commercial business remains strong as we continue to deliver appealing products and experiences for our fans, and best-in-class value to our partners.

“As we start to feel the benefits of our cost-reduction programme, there is significant potential for improved financial performance, which will, in turn, support our overriding priority: success on the pitch.”

The Manchester giants agreed an initial three-year deal in September 2023 for Snapdragon, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Technologies, to become their front-of-shirt sponsor from the start of last season.

The deal, which has been extended by a further two years, is believed to be worth up to £15m more annually than their previous agreement with TeamViewer.

Man United face sponsor issues

Despite their financial success last season, Man United are currently facing sponsorship issues as a result of their disappointing on-field performances over the past year.

Amorim’s side are without European football for this season after finishing 15th in the Premier League table and losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Meanwhile, Marriott International – the world’s largest hotel company – decided not to extend its sponsorship deal with the club after it expired at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Man United are also currently without a training kit partner after their Tezos deal, which was worth at least £20m a year, came to an end this summer.

However, the latest results show the club are in a strong financial position despite the challenges they are currently facing, with their losses dropping from £113.2m in 2023-24 to £33m last season.
