Man United stars could down tools under Rangnick amid update today - pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested the Man United squad could down tools under Ralf Rangnick.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the nature of Rangnick’s interim appointment will mean players will not listen to what he has to say.

Man United confirmed on Monday (29 November) the German will take charge of the team until the end of the season before moving into a consultancy role.

Michael Carrick will remain in charge for the visit of Arsenal on Thursday night (2 December) as Rangnick awaits his work visa.

The new boss was spotted in pictures shared by Fabrizio Romano today (1 December) looking around Old Trafford for the first time.

Asked how he thought Rangnick will get on at Man United, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s going to be interesting.

“If he tries to play how Man United played against Chelsea then I’ll think he’ll find success because they have got the players to counterattack in Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. I can see that working.

“But as a player, if you know the manager only has six months are you going to listen to him as much? I’m not sure.

“There’s a big job on his hands.”

United held European Champions Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge at the weekend as Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped to the bench.

Sancho scored for the Reds, his second goal in as many games since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking last month.

In other news, players are going to get hurt as controversial Cristiano Ronaldo footage emerges from Man United.
