Man United take new stance on Rasmus Hojlund amid transfer update

Manchester United have updated their stance on striker Rasmus Hojlund as they struggle to offload the striker.

Following the signing of Benjamin Sesko, Man United are ready to accept offers for Hojlund this summer.

Sesko joined Man United from RB Leipzig, and the 22-year-old is set to lead the line for the Red Devils against Arsenal in their opening Premier League fixture.

The move is part of Ruben Amorim’s rebuilding of the Man United squad, though that is largely dependent on player sales.

Amorim has already been able to see Marcus Rashford join Barcelona on loan, though is still waiting for suitors on other stars.

Hojlund has attracted interest from Italy, but his goal scoring form at Man United means club’s are not willing to pay a high transfer fee for the 22-year-old.

As reported by The Sun, [14 August] United have now decided they would accept a loan deal at £5million a season with an option to buy for Hojlund.

United have been forced into the decision after AC Milan claimed they would not pay over £35m for the striker.

Amorim is struggling to offload players he does not see having a future at the club, and that is a problem for the manager.

Hojlund has failed to adapt to the Premier League since his arrival from Atalanta in 2023, and with Sesko now at Old Trafford, the Denmark international will see little playing time.

Amorim too has Bryan Mbeumo he could play up-front ahead of Hojlund, so the United manager now has options thanks to his summer purchases.

Loaning Hojlund out though only solves a problem short-term for Amorim, and he could be left in the same situation he found himself in with Jadon Sancho when Chelsea didn’t activate the clause to sign the winger after a loan spell.

If Hojlund was to leave on loan and fail to make an impact elsewhere then Man United will have a tougher task selling him next summer.

The Red Devils are better to sell Hojlund, but they will be taking a massive hit on the £72m they spent on him two years ago.
