Man United to accept Mason Greenwood offer as new price revealed – sources

Manchester United are privately adamant Mason Greenwood will be sold this summer despite his Spanish resurgence, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League giants have told the player’s representatives he is free to find a new club and they are looking for a fee in excess of £40million on the back of the 22-year-old’s impressive loan spell at La Liga side Getafe this season.

There is significant interest in Greenwood from top clubs across Europe, including Italian giants Juventus, with the English winger’s contract set to expire in June 2025.

Man United chiefs are looking to reinvest the funds from the sale into the planned overhaul of the squad at Old Trafford this summer.

Mason Greenwood heading for Man United exit

There has been much speculation surrounding Greenwood’s future since he was arrested in January 2022 after being accused of attempted rape and assault, with the charges later dropped.

The one-cap England international was sent out on loan to Getafe last summer after previously spending more than 18 months without playing any football.

The temporary switch has proven beneficial for both the Red Devils and Greenwood, with his transfer value rising following his 10 goals and six assists in 31 appearances so far this season.

Reports have emerged suggesting Man United are now on the verge of triggering a one-year extension in the winger’s contract, meaning it will run until June 2026.

The extension activation would be taken by the club to protect the value of their asset rather than to suggest he has a future at Old Trafford.

Any fee collected will likely be added to the transfer kitty for a potential new manager coming through the door after Football Insider revealed last week Erik ten Hag is unlikely to be in charge next season.
