Man United will contact Ipswich about Kieran McKenna as they step up plans to replace Erik ten Hag, sources tell Football Insider.
As first revealed by Football Insider on 2 April, McKenna, 38, is a top contender to take over at Old Trafford after leading his Ipswich side to promotion for a second consecutive season.
The 2023-24 Championship runners-up face a major battle to hold on to their manager beyond this summer despite achieving automatic promotion.
Football Insider also revealed that Ten Hag is almost certain to lose his job at Old Trafford after the FA Cup final.

Sources say McKenna is regarded as “a future Man United manager” by senior figures at Old Trafford.
The Northern Irishman previously worked at United as an assistant to Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralph Rangnick before landing the top job with the Tractor Boys in 2021.
Since then, his reputation has continued to grow as one of the most highly-regarded young bosses in the country, leading Ipswich to back-to-back promotions.
It is said that United officials have been impressed not only by the performances on the pitch but also by his attitude and character.
