Man United to make £35m swoop for Tottenham player their own fans don't even rate - report
By Harry Sykes
Manchester United are preparing a mega-money swoop for Tottenham ace Eric Dier, according to a report.
The Sun claim United manager Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of Dier and is ready to sanction a £35million move for him.
It is said that Mourinho looked into a January move for the 23-year-old, who can play in defence or central midfield, but Spurs made it clear they would not sell.
The Sun report that even an offer of £45million-plus would have been knocked back by the London club as Mauricio Pochettino regards him as a key part of the team’s future.
However, Spurs fans have not shared the Argentine’s attitude towards Dier this season, with many hailing him as a liability in recent weeks for his performances in defence.

Dier is a liability at the minute

Kane was back to his best. Would be good to see Trippier having a chance now, and no Dier at the back. Still a liability

The team today is going to bottle it. Dele starting is fine but Dier has been a liability for some time now.

In recent weeks Dier has become a complete liability, this is very alarming.

Dier, who joined Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014, has reverted back to defence this season after being used predominantly in a midfield anchorman role in the last campaign.
The England international has filled in for Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen during their absences, and has also been used as one of three centre-backs in a 3-5-2 formation.
The Sun report that Dier is on United’s summer list of targets and the cash-rich club will attempt to persuade Spurs into a sale in the next transfer window.
In other Tottenham transfer news, a forward has signed after Spurs agreed terms on an out-of-window deal.
