Onana hasn’t fully convinced in-between the sticks at Old Trafford, with the goalkeeper behind some high profile mistakes.
The Cameroon international joined the club in 2023 as a replacement for David de Gea and was seen as a potentially inspired signing for his displays at Inter Milan.
The 29-year-old though was dropped at times last season for his unconvincing displays, and manager Ruben Amorim now wants to replace the goalkeeper.

Martinez is a physically imposing shot stopper, and strong from set-pieces to comfortably claim the ball in his penalty area, whilst that is one of Onana’s biggest weaknesses.
Onana was signed to be able to help United play out from the back, but his risky passes has heaped more pressure on United at times.
Amorim would be getting a commanding presence on the pitch and in the dressing room.
Having sourced attacking options for next season, Amorim needs to tighten up a defence which was too easy to play against at times next season.
Martinez would only be a short-term solution, but he could be a key part of United climbing the table next season.
