Man United will block Harry Amass move to Aston Villa – sources
Man United are expected to prevent Harry Amass from leaving the club amid interest from Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that United are not willing to see one of their brightest academy prospects join another Premier League club.
Amass, 17, has been heavily tipped for more of a role in the first-team squad after the arrival of Ruben Amorim but has yet to make his first-team debut.
An impressive pre-season campaign established his position as one of the club’s hottest talents for the future, with fans tipping him to step into the side in the absence of Luke Shaw.
However, there have been concerns that he could find his path into the starting XI blocked with both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui starting at left-back this season.
United view Amass as a key player for the future with “huge potential”, and despite growing interest, it would take a huge fee to tempt them into selling.
Man United respond to Aston Villa interest in Harry Amass
Villa’s interest in Amass has emerged as they feel they can offer him a clearer pathway into their first-team, with their ambitious view for the future.
Unai Emery’s side have put emphasis on developing young talent as seen with the likes of Morgan Rogers this season, and the left-back is viewed as a potential future star.
However, United’s vision for his future has him in high regard at Old Trafford and the arrival of Amorim is said to have boosted his first-team chances.
The Portuguese boss plays wing-backs in his system, and there is a belief that Amass is more suited to the role than the makeshift options used so far this season.
His emergence from the academy has built plenty of hype and expectation over his future, and United don’t want to see him leave the club any time soon.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, have been tracking his progress in the Under-21s Premier League 2 and have been impressed by what they have seen.
Despite United’s reluctance to sell, they remain strongly interested and are keeping close tabs on his progress and development.
In other news, Marcus Rashford has been told what he must do to stay at the club.
