Man United’s Kim Min-jae transfer hijacked by Bayern Munich – sources

Man United fear they could lose out on a deal for Napoli defender Kim Min-jae to Bayern Munich, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils have made the 26-year-old a top target and have launched enquiries over a deal for the centre-back.

But Bayern have now hijacked the deal and are now moving to seal a quick agreement with Kim.

The South Korea international has a release clause in his Napoli contract, which runs until 2025 and earns him a reported wage of just over £53,000-a-week.

It is believed that the clause becomes active next month and could be worth close to £60million.

Kim enjoyed a stellar 2022-23 campaign as Napoli lifted their first Serie A title since 1990.

He notched two goals and two assists in 45 appearances in all competitions – with the Naples outfit also reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The 26-year-old only joined the Italian giants from Fenerbahce last summer (2022) for a reported fee of £15.4million.

Man United are keen to add another top-class centre-back in the off-season following their return to the Champions League.

First-choice duo Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez battled injury at times during the 2022-23 campaign.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (16 June) that Harry Maguire is keen to impress during pre-season to cement his Man United future after limited involvement under Erik ten Hag.
