Slaven Bilic is desperate to keep Adrian at West Ham and is reportedly set to offer the goalkeeper a new contract, which could scupper Newcastle’s advances.
The Sun claims both Newcastle and Crystal Palace were interested in signing the 30-year-old stopper to bolster their ranks between the sticks, as both sides look to steer clear of a relegation battle.
However, in quotes published by the report, Bilic revealed that he was keen for the east London side to offer the Spanish goalkeeper a new contract despite the signing of Joe Hart.
“The situation with Adrian is that we would love to keep him,” Bilic said. “We rate him, we like him, we would like to offer him a new contract.”
It remains to be seen if Adrian will be willing to act as England goalkeeper Hart’s back-up during the 2017-18 season, when he could be offered first-team football elsewhere in the Premier League.
