Manchester United: Casemiro could agree ‘special deal’ after Inter Miami talks revealed

Manchester United star Casemiro could agree a “special deal” to join Inter Miami this summer.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider moving to the MLS could be the only option for the Brazil international if he wants to earn a similar salary to his wages at Old Trafford.

Casemiro, who rakes in £375,000 a week at Man United, is set to leave the club when his contract expires on 30 June.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 28 March Inter Miami have opened talks with Casemiro’s camp, while the 34-year-old is believed to be open to the move.

Man United will make significant savings on the midfielder’s wages, but replacing him might not be straightforward given his importance to Michael Carrick’s side.

Why Casemiro could be against Saudi Arabia move

There has been speculation around Casemiro staying at Man United following his form in recent months.

However, the decision has already been made for him to leave Old Trafford despite starting in 28 of his 30 appearances this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how much Casemiro could earn if he completes a move to Inter Miami.

“We know everybody’s earnings in the MLS, and they’re a lot less, but some players have special deals,” said Borson.

“It helps he’s Brazil’s captain, and he seems to have another lease of life. He looked like he was falling off, as a lot of old players do. He looked like his form had really collapsed last season, but he’s come back strongly and looks like he can go again.

“I’m sure they can get close to what he’s currently earning. It won’t be Saudi Arabia money, but Saudi Arabia is a very difficult sell for players right now. The whole project is really in doubt. If the key reason they’re going is money, but they’ve got the war risk, people are just going to shy away from it.”

How much could Casemiro earn in the MLS?

Borson insisted a move to the US could be the only option for Casemiro if Saudi is off the table.

“Saudi have talked about not signing players like Casemiro anyway,” said Borson.

“If Saudi is not there, the US is probably the only place where you can get anywhere near his current wages.

“As a special player, he’s not going to be able to get it in Europe, that’s for sure, so it doesn’t leave many options.

“It’s not going to be too much of a problem for him if he’s playing for $250k (£186k) as opposed to $300k (£223k). It doesn’t really make that much difference.”
