Manchester United: Paul Scholes totally wrong as legend calls for Patrick Dorgu to be sold
Manchester United‘s hierarchy should not listen to Paul Scholes after including Patrick Dorgu in a list of summer exits.
The 21-year-old has been sidelined since the end of January, picking up a hamstring injury during Michael Carrick’s first game in charge, which was a fantastic 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Following a slow start to life at Old Trafford, Dorgu finally appeared to have found his footing in England, with supporters getting to see the best of the player bought for £30million last summer.
Man United’s transfer plans likely depend on the team’s finish to the Premier League season, with Champions League qualification on the cards, but whatever happens, Dorgu shouldn’t be leaving.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes listed the likes of Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui to be sold if United are to win trophies, which are already ludicrous calls.
When talking about Dorgu, he said, “They brought him in as a wing-back, and he’s not really played there. I’d probably sell. I’m not sure what position he is.
“Again, if you keep him, then he’s just a squad player,” but it is absolute nonsense. Dorgu is just 21 years of age and has an incredibly high ceiling, just not one that the Red Devils have been able to see just yet.

The fact that he needed to change position to rediscover his form from Lecce should not work against him. If anything, it should highlight his adaptability and work ethic, something much-needed in the squad.
Who else would Paul Scholes sell this summer?
Despite just putting pen to paper on a new deal, Scholes named Harry Maguire in a potential fire sale, joined by Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee.
Sure, the entire squad needs to be shaken up ahead of next season, but Carrick has shown exactly what he can do with the current players, taking them up to third in the Premier League table.
While that is without European football to contend with, it is no easy feat to win seven of your first 10 games in charge, and that is exactly what the former midfielder has done at Old Trafford.
Carrick could be appointed Man United boss permanently in the summer, and he is unlikely to act as hastily as some of those speaking about the club from the outside.
