‘Man United set for hefty windfall as Real Madrid deal beckons’
Manchester United are set to receive a welcome windfall from Real Madrid’s transfer activity this summer.
The Red Devils have already begun their rebuild after finishing just 15th in the Premier League this term, having secured the signing of Matheus Cunha.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is set to leave Man United despite returning to Old Trafford following his loan spell with Chelsea.
Ruben Amorim is keen to utilise the summer transfer window to acquire players who better suit his wingback system.

Man United set for windfall as Real Madrid near Alvaro Carreras
Since joining Benfica after failing to make a senior appearance for the Red Devils, Alvaro Carreras has performed well in the Portuguese top flight, attracting the attention of Real Madrid.
The Athletic revealed [3 June]: “Madrid are in talks with Benfica to re-sign their former academy left-back Carreras, who would also cost around €50million (£42m).
“The 22-year-old Spaniard is their first option in this position, but sources involved in negotiations believe it will not be an easy deal, as they say Carreras’ previous club Manchester United have a buy-back option, which could be worth up to €20m (£17m), although voices at United played down this prospect.
“They do have a sell-on clause as part of the deal that took him to Benfica in 2024, which is worth 20 per cent of any fee above the £5m the Portuguese club bought him for.”
That deal is now moving closer to completion, according to reports from Marca.
The Spain Under-21 international has made 50 appearances across all competitions for Benfica this term, helping them finish second in the league.

Brentford set to raise Bryan Mbeumo’s price tag amid Man United interest
The sell-on clause Man United will receive if Carreras joins Madrid this summer will help Amorim as he looks to strengthen his ranks at Old Trafford.
Alvaro Carreras stats | 2024/25 all competitions |
Appearances | 50 |
Goals | 4 |
Assists | 4 |
Meanwhile, after successfully securing Cunha’s signature, the North West giants have also set their sights on a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo shone for Brentford this term, scoring 20 goals and creating seven assists in 38 Premier League appearances this term.
The Cameroon international’s performances for the West London club suggest that he should have what it takes to strengthen a currently misfiring Man United frontline.
However, sources have told Football Insider that Brentford are set to raise Mbeumo’s price tag, while the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund could be set for the Old Trafford exit door.
Garnacho could leave Man United for £50m after notching a career-best return of 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions.
