Manor Solomon surely set for second chance at Tottenham as Roberto De Zerbi comments resurface
Tottenham Hotspur winger Manor Solomon looks set to be favoured by Roberto De Zerbi considering the close relationship the two have from previously working together.
Solomon spent the 2025-26 campaign out on loan away from Spurs at both Villarreal and Fiorentina following an impressive season-long spell at Leeds United.
The 26-year-old is set to return to the Spurs fold this summer, but doubts remain over whether he will become part of their first-team plans once again.
De Zerbi’s arrival at Tottenham looks to have boosted Solomon’s chances of a revival in North London, as the Italian is a huge admirer of him as a player and person.
It remains to be seen if he is part of Tottenham’s transfer plans this summer, but Solomon will surely be confident of being given a second chance under his former boss.

VISIT THE TRANSFER HUBRoberto De Zerbi has spoken highly of Manor Solomon – a second chance at Spurs must beckon
Solomon has been the victim of numerous changes at Spurs over the last 18 months, with Thomas Frank not taking a liking to his play style last summer despite a strong loan spell at Leeds.
The 26-year-old struggled for regular game time at Villarreal, but still notched five goal contributions in 11 appearances, then went on to impress on loan at Fiorentina in the second half of the season.
| Appearances | 16 |
| Minutes played | 887′ |
| Goal contributions | 3 |
| Successful passes % | 89.5% |
| Chances created per 90 | 2.54 |
| Successful crosses per 90 | 1.22 |
| Successful dribbles per 90 | 2.54 |
| Duels won % | 59.8% |
He ended the campaign as a regular for the Serie A side and ranked highly among wingers in the division for several key statistics, such as the ones listed above.
Solomon’s agent, Gilad Katsav, has spoken out about his client’s plans for the summer in the last few days, saying: “There has not been a conversation between Roberto De Zerbi and Manor yet. I want Manor Solomon to be at Tottenham, that is my desire.
“There is Pini Zahavi, Shlomy Ben Ezra and me. There is a team, they may announce tomorrow and they may announce in two weeks. He deserves to get a chance (at Spurs).”
While the winger may not have spoken with the Spurs boss as yet, it is clear to see what De Zerbi thinks of him based on his comments from 2023.
He managed Solomon at Shakhtar Donetsk in 2021 as war broke out in the region, and spoke about their relationship before they faced off in a Brighton vs Fulham clash two years later, saying: “I love him. Not tomorrow (Saturday) but on the pitch, you have to respect that I am working with other players but I can’t forget anything.
“Because after the war started we played a tournament in Europe and he was with me and I remember very well that moment and I have him in my heart.”
Solomon scored the winner in the game, and De Zerbi went on to say: “He was my player and I love him because we stayed six months. I’m happy for him, but sad for the result. For me, in the game he was an opponent but after the game he is my friend, he is my player, and I can’t forget the past.”
The 26-year-old clearly has a great opportunity to earn a second chance at Spurs under someone who rates him very highly.
What has Solomon said about staying at Fiorentina?
Fiorentina were given an option to buy Solomon by Spurs in January, but have reportedly decided against taking up the opportunity to land his services permanently.
They could still return to the table for the 26-year-old for a lower fee, however, but he has hinted at a longer stay being off the table on Instagram.
Solomon took to the site last week to say: “Ciao, when I arrived here a few months ago, we had one clear objective and we achieved it.
“We all know this great club should and deserves to be fighting for completely different goals. Thank you for your support and for making me feel at home in Florence from day one.”
Sources have told Football Insider that De Zerbi will decide Mikey Moore’s future this summer, and he could well be set to choose which of the two left-wing loanees he wants to keep in his squad for next season.
