Manuel Ugarte shares Facetime call image of Lisandro Martinez after Man United win

Man United midfielder Manuel Ugarte took to social media to share his call with teammate Lisandro Martinez after their 2-1 FA Cup win over Leicester City on Friday (February 7).

The 23-year-old was brought off just before Harry Maguire’s controversial added-time winner as Ruben Amorim’s side secured a spot in the fifth round.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid opened the scoring for Leicester just before half-time, latching on to Andre Onana’s parry from Wilfred Ndidi’s initial shot.

Struggling striker Joshua Zirkzee came off the bench to equalise for Man United in the 68th minute before Maguire secured the win in added time.

The England international was one of several Man United players seemingly in an offside position, but with VAR not to be introduced until the fifth round, the goal stood.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was furious with the decision after the game, telling ITV: “We are not defeated in Fergie time, we are defeated in offside time.”

“We are gutted. When you prepare for the whole week for this game and reacting after the Everton loss and put in a performance like that but it is decided on a clear and obvious mistake, that is unacceptable and unthinkable at this level.”

The central midfielder has been a key player for United since joining in the summer, starting 22 of their 29 games across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing one assist in his 1847 minutes of action.

Martinez was forced to watch on from the sidelines after tearing his ACL in the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace, taking to social media to send a message to his teammates after the win over Leicester.

Ugarte took to Instagram after United’s controversial win, sharing an image from his Facetime call with teammate Martinez.

Ruben Amorim’s attention will return to the Premier League as they travel to fellow strugglers Tottenham on February 16th.

United have lost just one in their last five games across all competitions, but all four of their wins came away from the Premier League.
