Marc Guehi and Declan Rice reacts to Adam Wharton amid Crystal Palace exit links

Adam Wharton caught the attention of several Premier League stars as speculation swirls around the star’s future at Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old missed much of the last two campaigns, making just 43 senior appearances since signing from Blackburn Rovers in February 2024, but that has not stopped suitors from taking an interest.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are racing Real Madrid to Wharton’s signature, with several other Premier League clubs interested in drawing the talent away from Selhurst Park.

The midfielder now has the FA Cup trophy on his CV, helping the Eagles to victory over Pep Guardiola‘s side to victory at Wembley Stadium, but it could be one of his final actions as a Palace player.

Taking to Instagram (30 May), Wharton simply shared an image of him holding the FA Cup trophy, with the caption: “Season complete,” lifting a rare piece of silverware at Wembley Stadium.

Teammates Marc Guehi and Daniel Munoz like the post, as well as Man City‘s John Stones, Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

Oliver Glasner faces difficult summer at Selhurst Park

Football Insider verdict

Wharton’s departure might not be the only concern at Selhurst Park this summer, with several other stars, including Munoz, Tyrick Mitchell, and Dean Henderson, linked with moves away.

Football Insider also understands that Eberechi Eze is unlikely to change his mind on leaving Palace amid heavy interest from Tottenham and multiple other clubs around Europe.

Jean-Philippe Mateta could also leave Selhurst Park, having been linked with Man United during the winter transfer window, but interest has certainly died down since then.

If the Eagles lose several stars this summer, and the boardroom shows a lack of ambition to provide the manager with funds, they run the risk of losing Oliver Glasner during a difficult transfer window.

Palace are set to hold talks with Glasner over a new contract following an incredible campaign at Selhurst Park, Football Insider understands, but there is no guarantee that he remains at the club.

Steve Parish must support the manager throughout the summer transfer window as the Eagles prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.
