Marcus Rashford: ‘Three Man United superstars’ handled appallingly by the club
Marcus Rashford’s situation at Man United has raised “serious questions” about behind-the-scenes issues and management at the club.
This is according to former United chief scout Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford and remains very well-connected there, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the situation has been badly handled “from top to bottom”.
Off-field issues and questions about commitment have become a running theme for United’s recent academy graduates, with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard suffering similar accusations.
This, Brown insists, is down to the people advising the players and United’s lack of action to steer them back in the right direction.
The former scout insisted that all three academy graduates should have gone on to do far more than they did at Old Trafford, but all experienced the same issues.
Rashford, 26, is now widely expected to leave the club amid public questions about his behaviour outside of football as well as his performances in training.
Marcus Rashford exit poses serious questions of Man United
Now, the former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely with top players particularly during United’s most successful period, has insisted that Rashford’s situation has become all-too-familiar for the young players at Old Trafford.
“The Rashford situation has been badly handled from top to bottom,” he told Football Insider.
“Nobody really knows unless you’re watching him every day.
“But if you take Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, the thread running right through all of them is that they’ve been badly advised.
“There are similarities in all three situations when they’ve been at Man United.
“All three came through the academy and should’ve been key players, but other things get in the way.
“Whether it’s off-field issues, questions about attitude or commitment, or the way they’ve been managed by the people around them, none have gone on to do what I think they should’ve done at United.
“Maybe it’s a coincidence, but the similarities are there for three of the brightest young players to come from the academy in recent years.

“So those three, when you compare their situations, raise a serious question about the people on the inside and how the players are being guided.
“And from there you have to question how Man United have allowed it to happen.”
