‘Marcus Rashford will do brilliantly at Newcastle – what a signing’
Marcus Rashford is surplus to requirements at Man United and will be on the move again this summer after Aston Villa declined to sign him permanently.
The Sun have reported (18 June) that Newcastle are ready to offer Rashford the “perfect platform” to reignite his career at St James’ Park.
Barcelona have also been linked with the England international and the Man United star has made no secret of his desire to move to the Nou Camp.
Rashford hit four goals and six assists in 17 appearances on loan with Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has backed Newcastle to beat Barcelona in the race for the winger’s signature.

‘Barcelona can’t afford Rashford deal’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he doesn’t believe Barcelona can afford a deal for Rashford – even on a loan basis.
The Catalan giants are already advanced in their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, a long-time target for Barca.
Wyness insisted he doesn’t see any other option other than Rashford leaving Man United on another loan.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think it’s going to work out to be another loan situation like with Aston Villa.
“I don’t really see anything else happening for him. He keeps on making noises about Barcelona, the club of his dreams.
“I just don’t see Barcelona being able to do it financially.
“I don’t see a way to be able to get that done.
“Another loan would work with Newcastle. He did well with Villa, for a limited impact he did from January onwards – he did okay.
“I think given a full season at Newcastle, he will do brilliantly, what a signing it could be.”

Newcastle told new Elanga asking price
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (11 June) that Nottingham Forest will demand more than £60million for long-term Newcastle target Anthony Elanga.
The Magpies have long been interested in the 23-year-old and tried to land him last summer (2024).
Elanga’s stock has risen since then and Nottingham Forest are expected to do everything they can to keep him at the City Ground.
