Paul Mariner: Arsenal will not win the title, this player is the weak link
By Emma Sanders
Paul Mariner believes Arsenal do not have enough quality in the side to win the Premier League.
The former Gunner also said he hoped the team could push on, but was concerned at the team playing Olivier Giroud at centre-forward.
Mariner was predicting which teams would finish in the top four of the Premier League this season and he admitted he was hopeful the club could still finish in a European qualifying spot.
“Going off present form, I think it will be a difficult ask for Arsenal to get anywhere close to the Premier League this season. I feel like a part of me thinks they can push on but when I see Giroud playing through the middle it concerns me,” Mariner told ESPN.
“I don’t think they have enough to get up that league table anymore. Fingers crossed they finish fourth.”

Arsenal have recorded four victories in their last five games since suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in December.
They thrashed Swansea 4-0 on Saturday and Giroud scored the opening goal after 37 minutes to increase his tally to seven in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.
The victory means the Gunners currently sit in fourth place in the league table, just one point behind arch rivals Tottenham who are in second.
However, they trail league leaders Chelsea by eight points and they still have to travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Antonio Conte’s side in February.
Arsenal have already suffered defeats against rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton though they picked up draws against Manchester United and Tottenham following an impressive 3-0 victory against Chelsea back in September.
