Mark Lawrenson has backed Everton to win their final home match of the season 2-0 against Watford on Friday night.

The former Liverpool defender made a big claim about striker Romelu Lukaku by stating it might be the “last time” Lukaku plays at Goodison Park as a Toffees player.

Lukaku, who is currently the top scorer in the Premier League, has turned down a new contract at the club with his future now in doubt.

He still has a contract which will run until 2019, but his refusal to put pen to paper on a new deal has seen speculation about his future mount.

Nonetheless, Lawrenson believes Ronald Koeman’s team will secure all three points against Walter Mazzarri’s side.

“Everton lost at Swansea last weekend and have not scored in any of their past three matches,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport. “I don’t see goals being a problem for Ronald Koeman’s team on Friday night, however.

“This is the Toffees’ final home game of the season, so they have some incentive to end such a good season at Goodison Park on a high note.

“It might also be the last time we see Romelu Lukaku at Goodison as an Everton player – that looks like it will be one of the transfer stories we will hear a lot about this summer.”

Over the course of the season, Lukaku has played 35 Premier League matches, scoring 24 goals during that period of time.

He is three goals ahead of Tottenham frontman Harry Kane as the Belgian will be hoping to beat the England international to the golden boot.

Koeman’s team have suffered two defeats during their last three matches with Lukaku failing to get on to the scoresheet during any of those games.

He will be hoping to end that small drought and help his team finish off their home campaign with all three points.

Lukaku scored a brace against Watford when the two teams met during the reverse fixture in December, which their opponents winning the match 3-2.
