Mark Lawrenson predicts Liverpool v Everton clash
By Dominic Toner
Mark Lawrenson has predicted Liverpool to record a victory over their Merseyside rivals Everton at the weekend.
The Reds host the Toffees on Saturday at Anfield and will be looking to consolidate their spot inside the top four.
Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman’s side are seventh-placed in the Premier League table and still have an outside bet of finishing in the Champions League positions.
Liverpool ace Sadio Mane scored a 94th minute winner in the previous Merseyside clash this season and Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to do the double.
BBC pundit Lawrenson feels that Liverpool will have enough to earn the three points once again and has tipped a 2-0 scoreline.

“I don’t think Everton will go to Anfield and just try to to defend, which is the main reason I am backing Liverpool to win,” Lawrenson wrote for BBC Sport. “As everyone knows, when teams do sit in against Liverpool, it normally causes Jurgen Klopp’s side problems, but I don’t think Koeman is the type of manager who will try it.”
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last three matches and earned a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in their last game before the international break.
They will be without talisman Adam Lallana due to injury at the weekend and Klopp may have a selection dilemma over who to bring into the starting line-up.
The Reds have a four-point cushion over fifth-placed Manchester United, but have played two games more.
Klopp is desperately trying to help the club return to Europe after being absent this season and a win against rivals Everton will significantly boost their chances.
