Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham v Watford

By Dominic Toner

Mark Lawrenson has predicted Tottenham to overcome Watford in their Premier League meeting on Sunday.

Spurs travel to Vicarage Road for a second consecutive away game in the league and will be looking to follow up the 4-1 win over Southampton.

The club’s attackers were in great form as Harry Kane and Heung-Min both scored, while Dele Alli netted an impressive brace.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have now won their last three matches and are beginning to get their title bid back on track.

The north London club are still 10 points adrift of table toppers Chelsea, but are beginning to recapture their best form.

BBC Sport pundit Lawrenson feels that Spurs will come through the Watford test as they are playing well.

“Even before Tottenham put four goals past Southampton I looked at Spurs and thought they have just got something about them at the moment,” Lawrenson wrote in his BBC Sport column. “Watford, in contrast, looked ordinary in their draw with Crystal Palace. I don’t see them stopping Tottenham from making it four wins in a row.”

Lawrenson has tipped Spurs to win 2-0 in the league clash.

Spurs face league leaders Chelsea on 4 January and will be keen to get in that game on the back of a victory.

The Blues have won 12 consecutive league games and have emerged as the title favourites, but have only found great success since switching to a new formation.

Pochettino’s side lost the reverse fixture 2-1 against Chelsea in November, but are certainly in better form now.
