Rangers newest signing Russell Martin has spoken out for the first time sice joining the Club.
The Gers posted an interview conducted with the defender on the official website, and Martin believes he is going to enjoy his time at the Ibrox.
“I think we will both have a good time,
“I don’t think you can predict anything in football, I think if you had asked me at the start of this season if I would be sitting here now I would have said it was a million miles away from my thoughts but this is huge.”
The 32-year-old defender has not played any football since august, after falling down the pecking order at his parent-club Norwich.
Yet the Scotland international believes through the lack of regular football he brings something dynamic to the Club,
“I need to get back playing football, it has been a while but I think I will bring what I bring – I try and organise, try and talk or try and help people through the game.”
The experienced enforcer has made over 300 appearances for Norwich City, but onyl managed to see the action seven times this season.
Martin’s immediate ambitions are to get amongst the team, and start playing again, but he did give Gers fans a taste of what they can expect to see the first time he adorns the famous blue jersey,
“I want to help us defensively and help make us better, as simple as that. I want to keep playing, I am a defender who likes to have the ball, who likes to start attacks and I like to pass the ball. Hopefully people get to see a bit of that.”
His first chance to show the fans what he can do could be the Scottish Cup fixture this weekend, as the Gers travel to face Fraserburgh in the fourth round.
