Mason Mount and Declan Rice respond to ‘perfect’ Scott McTominay message – ‘Unreal’

Napoli’s Scott McTominay has caught the eye of both Manchester United’s Mason Mount and Arsenal’s Declan Rice with his latest social media message.

The Scottish international has had a wonderful season in Italy, capturing the hearts of Napoli fans with his goal-scoring exploits for Antonio Conte’s side.

Despite playing in midfield the 28-year-old has found the net 12 times in Serie A, as well as picking up four assists, and was named the league’s MVP.

There have even been calls for Manchester United to re-sign McTominay, less than one year after he left Old Trafford.

McTominay celebrates league title

Napoli secured the Serie A title on Friday (23 May) evening, beating Cagliari 2-0 to pip Inter Milan to top spot by a single point.

As so often has been the case this season McTominay was the hero, giving Conte’s side the lead in the 42nd minute with a flying volley.

It was another former Man United player who doubled Napoli’s lead, with Romelu Lukaku making sure of the three points just after half time.

The Scotsman took to social media to celebrate the success, posting a photo which showed him kissing the Coppa Campioni d’Italia, with the caption reading: “Hard work always catches up with perfect timing
CAMPIONI D’ITALIA.”

Former teammate Mount replied, “Congrats mate,” with Arsenal midfielder Rice commenting, “unreal Geeza.”

McTominay latest example of Man United failures

After Man United lost the Europa League final to Tottenham, the whole club is in a torrid state, ending the season trophyless and with their worst-ever Premier League finish.

Despite this, Ruben Amorim is expected to remain in charge at Old Trafford, but will need a monumental transfer window to haul his side up towards the top of the league.

It is almost laughable the number of players who are thriving once they leave the Red Devils, which hints that there is something going very wrong behind the scenes.

Like McTominay, Antony has been inspired at Real Betis, despite being a complete and utter failure during his time at United.

The Brazilian was a big-money disappointment after arriving from Ajax but has been revived in La Liga, while Marcus Rashford has bounced back to a decent degree on loan at Aston Villa.

Amorim has a huge job on his hands, not only trying to improve the Man United squad, but also trying to change the awful atmosphere around the club, which is impacting the performances of players.
