Mateus Mane transfer latest: Liverpool and Man United stance on £50m fee revealed
Liverpool and Manchester United will not pay Wolves’ £50million asking price for starlet Mateus Mane this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Wolves have no intention of letting go of the 18-year-old ahead of next season, but Premier League clubs are expected to test that resolve with summer offers for the starlet.
However, both Liverpool and Manchester United have decided that they will not be looking to meet the bottom club’s valuation for the attacking midfielder, as sources say that he is still seen as being too raw to justify such a significant fee.
Wolves’ relegation to the Championship appears to be all but confirmed, and they will be hoping that their bright young talent can stick around to help them mount a push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Scouts amazed by Mateus Mane at Wolves
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that scouts from the top Premier League clubs have been wowed by the ability that Mane has shown in recent months.
The youngster has flourished under Rob Edwards since his appointment back in November, and he has quickly become one of the league’s emerging stars.
The England youth international has two goals and one assist to his name from 17 league appearances in 2025-26, and that has quickly seen clubs around the Premier League sit up and take notice of him.
Brown revealed that scouts are growing increasingly confident that Mane could soon make the step up to play for one of England’s elite clubs, with the belief that his game will become more polished as his experience grows.

He is set to be watched closely by both Manchester United and Liverpool between now and the end of the season, and one or both of that duo may even try and make a move ahead of next term.

This is how Liverpool would react to £100m bid for Dominik Szoboszlai
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider on Wednesday that Liverpool would “think twice” about accepting a bid for Dominik Szoboszlai, even if it broke beyond the £100m mark.
The midfielder has been a key performer for the Reds throughout this season, and that has prompted interest in him from Real Madrid.
Borson revealed that Liverpool would not necessarily accept a £100m offer for the Hungarian this summer, due to concerns over how to replace him, with a lack of world-class midfielders on the market at the moment.
However, he also added that a deal is unlikely to happen this summer, even with Madrid’s significant spending power, as the Spanish giants have been relatively careful with the fees that they have splashed in recent years.
That will be music to the ears of Liverpool, who will be keen to build their team around Szoboszlai for another year at least.
