Matheus Cunha posts four-word Man United injury update ahead of Man City clash

Matheus Cunha shared a race-against-time message to Man United fans as he works his way back from injury.

Ruben Amorim reshaped United’s attack this summer as Man United signed Cunha for £62.5 million and added the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo.

Cunha impressed on his debut against Arsenal but has yet to find the net in his opening three fixtures. Even so, flashes of quality have already shown the creativity and dynamism he can bring to an attack that often looked poor last season.

However, Cunha’s promising start suffered a setback against Burnley, where he was forced off holding his hamstring.

Matters were made worse after he was not chosen for the Brazil squad due to injury, but the forward has now provided an update on social media that suggests he is working against the clock to get fit again.

Matheus Cunha shares recovery update from the gym

Cunha posted an encouraging update on Instagram regarding his recovery, as he was in the gym with a caption that read: “The time is flying” with a clock emoji.

This isn’t the first time the Brazilian has provided an update, as Cunha told Man United fans he’ll be “back soon” earlier last week. Now, with footage emerging of him working on a bicycle, hopes are growing that his return could come sooner than expected.

With United preparing to face Man City in the derby on 14 September, Amorim will be desperate to have his new £62.5m signing available.

The 26-year-old comes off the back of a fantastic season with Wolves, where he scored 17 times in all competitions whilst providing six assists.

Although he is yet to find the net for United, there are not many fixtures that would be better to open his account than against City in his first Manchester derby.

Man United face Carlos Baleba transfer blow

With United having a busy summer transfer, one position they failed to strengthen was midfield, despite their interest in Carlos Baleba.

However, they may now have to wait until next summer as Football Insider revealed Man United will not be able to complete a deal to sign Baleba in January.

The 21-year-old was not for sale last summer, leading to United’s last-gasp attempt to sign Conor Gallagher, and recent reports suggest that the Seagulls’ stance over Baleba won’t change in January.
