Matt Le Tissier says whether Nottingham Forest should sack Ange Postecoglou after woeful start

Matt Le Tissier has revealed whether he believes Ange Postecoglou should be given more time to turn around results at Nottingham Forest.

After just seven games, Postecoglou is under pressure at Nottingham Forest following a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle which left them just a point above the bottom three.

Postecoglou was appointed after Nottingham Forest sacked Nuno Espirito Santo, despite his exploits in getting the club back into Europe.

The international break means owner Evangelos Marinakis could sack Postecoglou, making him on the shortest managerial tenures in Premier League history.

Ange Postecoglou sacking would be ‘incredibly harsh’

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier doesn’t believe Postecoglou will last much longer at the City Ground.

Speculation is rife about Ange Postecoglou and I think it would be incredibly harsh first and foremost for Marinakis to be sacking him before the next round of Premier League games,” Le Tissier said.

It’s very early on in his tenure although Marinakis does have a reputation for making some strange decisions.

I think there might be a part of him regretting sacking Nuno given what he did at that football club and given the way the results have gone since Postecoglou has been appointed but I do think he will give him a little bit more time, probably not that long.”

Nuno has since been appointed West Ham manager, a side only a point below Nottingham Forest currently in the Premier League table.

Nottingham Forest’s position on Postecoglou revealed

It was exclusively revealed by Football Insider that Postecoglou will not be sacked by Nottingham Forest during the international break.

The Tricky Trees intend on giving Postecoglou the next home match against Chelsea, with an improvement in results and performances still expected.

Defensively, Nottingham Forest under Postecoglou have conceded 15 goals in seven games, meaning an improvement at the back is urgently required.
